Faith

Posted on January 15, 2025 by alexis

Faith. Belief. Trust. These things can all be difficult. Believing in something is often easier when you can see it. It’s logical, and there’s proof. Where’s the fun in that? As followers of Christ, our lives aren’t meant to be easy. If your life was perfect and everything always went your way, would you need a forgiving, loving Savior? No, you wouldn’t.

Our lives are full of tests and things that knock us down. Everyone experiences these no matter what they believe in. The difference? We have Jesus standing right beside us. He helps us up and washes our wounds. Believing in something you can’t see is hard. Especially when there are a million other things trying to distract you. It may be hard to trust the Bible, and it might be difficult having faith in someone who is so powerful. Some of the best things in life are hard. Even when you fall down, you don’t need to be strong right away because you’re not standing on your own.

Everyone’s faith gets tested. But even during that, God does not abandon us and force us to figure it out on our own. He simply wants to see what you’ll do. God is often compared to the wind, since you can’t see it, but you can hear it, and you know it’s there because of what it causes. Miracles dohappen, and I choose to believe that it’s Jesus. I choose to believe that God does exist and he’s guiding my hand as I write these words. My intentions are not to discourage you by speaking of hardships and trials. My job is to spread the goodness of God. His love, patience, kindness, forgiveness.

While we may not be able to see God or Jesus in a physical form yet, there are plenty of other ways to see him. I see him in every animal and tree, every flower, raindrop and snowflake. He’s in every ray of sunlight that breaks through the clouds and every blade of grass under your feet. He’s in the kind people you meet at the store. In the bird that flies over your head. He’s everywhere, just like the wind. No matter where you go, you can’t escape him, and I wouldn’t want to.

Just remember this: if you tell him to leave, he will. He won’t go far, but he’ll take a step back and wait for you to want him again. Even if you push him away, he’ll still forgive you, and scoop you up into his arms. Reading the Bible and praying help most people, but there are other ways to connect with him, even though those two are the best. Enjoy his creation. Take a deep breath of fresh air and let your body relax. as you start to see him in everything.

I personally love reading my Bible and I talk to Jesus quite often. It’s not as often as I would like, but it’s a start. If you’re new to Jesus, welcome. I’m truly glad you’re here. If the Bible is a little intimidating, that’s alright. You can start wherever you want whether that’s the Gospels, Psalms, or just the book you randomly open to. I am not a professional, and I’m definitely not a Theologian, but I know that everyone does things differently. It’s okay if you read slower than your friend, and it’s alright if your Bible isn’t filled with highlighted passages. Mine isn’t. I write verses I like in a notebook. I hope this helps you no matter what stage you’re at in your journey with Christ. May he show you his love and fill you with compassion and rest.
