Just a Thought…

Posted on October 19, 2024 by alexis

First off, I just wanted to apologize for disappearing for a while there. But, I’m back now, and here I am, writing this. The title describes this devotion perfectly. A little while ago, just like a couple days, I had a thought.

Now, I’m very introverted. That’s an important detail, okay? Anyway, the thought was this: Even though I don’t need people and don’t want to be around them, there’s people who need me. People who want me around. Whether I know it for a fact or just have a hunch, there are people who need me, and I’m sure there’s people who need you.

Now sure. You could just push them away and ignore them. Would Christ do that? We all need him. What if he just decided to ignore all of us? We’d be screwed. I may be an introvert but I am willing, sometimes more than willing, to help people.

God knows me. He knows when I draw the line. Sometimes we don’t get to stay in our comfort zones, but for me personally? I would much rather serve the Lord, no matter how crazy or uncomfortable the task, than not do anything and stay in my box.

I am more than willing to follow God to the ends of the earth and back again, embracing whatever task he has for me along the way. If that scares you, that’s fine. You’re not there yet. I don’t expect your relationship with God to be like mine. They’re not meant to all be the same. I’ve gone through some stuff to get here. I’m not saying you haven’t also had some bumps or mountains in the road, but the trick is to choose.

As you’re chugging along, hitting every obstacle that could possibly be in the way, you have to choose which road to follow before you slip to the wrong side. Whether we realize it or not, we’re constantly making choices that influence our faith.

There are only two roads to choose from. You can’t go back. Even if you think you’re safe because you haven’t chosen one, you still have made a choice. Anyway, that’s what I had going through my head. Lord, please bring us all to you; help us to love and care for each other like the family we are.
