I can’t. It’s too hard. I give up. I’m sure all of us have said these things at one point or another. Giving up is the easy way, and sometimes I suppose it is necessary, like when retreating in battle. But even in that situation, the soldiers don’t just pack up and go home. They regroup and head back out with a new strategy.
Just because you do something wrong the first time, doesn’t mean you can’t try again. Sometimes we just have to take a step back and reevaluate the situation. Find the error and try to avoid it. No one is perfect, and I know that’s hard for some people to accept. It’s most likely not going to be perfect, and that’s alright. Most things take practice, and all things do if you want to get better at them. The only perfect human to ever walk the earth was Jesus, and, luckily for us, he’s willing to help. He won’t make us perfect at everything, but he can give us the strength to press on, no matter how many failed attempts lie behind us.
Mistakes happen for a reason. They exist so we can learn from them and fix them. Giving up may seem like the only option sometimes, but I promise it’s not. God can use every situation to teach us or give us a message. It will be worth it if you keep pressing forward, and remember, you don’t have to do it alone.
Lord, please help us to keep trying no matter how hard we fall. Give us the strength to rise again and continue on. Amen.
