Are you Willing?

Posted on May 31, 2024 by alexis

“‘Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, ‘Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?’ ‘Why do you ask me about what is good?’ Jesus replied. ‘There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.’ ‘Which ones?’ he inquired. Jesus replied, ”You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.” ‘All these things I have kept,’ the young man said. ‘What do I still lack?’ Jesus answered, ‘If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’ When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.'”

This is a very interesting story. All the man had to do was let go of his earthly possessions, trading them for something much better: a place in heaven. But he didn’t. He decided he would rather have his things and money instead of treasure in heaven and an eternity with our Father. A lot of people love money whether they are willing to except it or not. Even some who claim to love Jesus. You cannot serve two masters. You must choose one. Money can do good things, but so can whole heartedly following the Lord.

Money and stuff may carry you on this planet, but what about when you’re done? When your temporary tent, the body, gives out and you die, how will all your stuff help you? It won’t. Despite the world’s opinion, the only thing that matters in our lives is Jesus. Not money, stuff, big houses, cars, fancy parties. So, I want you to think about a couple things. Firstly, you need to figure out what or who you are worshipping, unless you already know. Secondly, are you willing to drop everything and follow the King? Are you willing to leave all your possessions behind for the one true God?

Are you willing to fight for him and the Kingdom of Light? Think about how you would truthfully answer these questions. Maybe some changes need to be made. There are a lot of things in this world that are supposed to distract us from the Lord Almighty. What if we didn’t let anythingtake our eyes off him? May everyone learn to follow you, Lord, with all our hearts, minds, and souls. Amen.
