How Full is the Glass?

Posted on May 24, 2024 by alexis

In my opinion, the “Is the glass half full or half empty” thing is really dumb. Being super “negative” all the time isn’t good for you and the people around you, but neither is being super “positive.” There is a large difference between a negative person and a realist. Life isn’t always lollipops and unicorns. It’s not supposed to be. If it was, would we need God? My answer is no. We wouldn’t. If everything was great 24/7, we wouldn’t have to rely on the Lord to help us through hard times. Following the Lord is not a smooth path. But that’s the point: Jesus is strong in our times of need.

Our faith and trust grows when we can’t see the end. A lot of people wish life was perfect. Some choose to see the world how they want to, and not how it really is. This can be dangerous and exhausting. Sometimes bad things happen. Not all people are nice and kind. Not all days are filled with sunshine and smiles, and that’s okay.No one worth knowing expects your life to be perfect. When you’re having a hard time, guess who’s there to comfort you. Your friends, family, and most importantly, Jesus. Relationships are forged and strengthened in battle and hard times, not in a place where every single thing is easy.

Not everything in this cursed world is good. There is evil around, trying to pull you to its side. But God, who is the definition of good, can defeat anything with a wave of his hand. Not everyday is going to be ideal. Not every moment is going to be filled with rainbows and glitter. As I have said, that’s alright. Jesus had to go through the most terrible day in history. But while he hung there on the cross, he knew that day of pain would lead to an endless amount of days where people are forgiven for their sins.

Jesus knows bad days. He willhelp us through them. As long as you don’t dwell on a not-so-great situation, and acknowledge that the Lord can get you through it, the bad times won’t hold you down, but you’ll see them as a time to grow your relationship with Jesus and others. Who cares how much water is in the glass, it’s just water.
