Decisions

Posted on May 17, 2024 by alexis

We as humans tend to have a craving for freedom. We thrive for independence yet let others rule over us. Freedom is a tricky thing to talk about with people, and expensive for us to get. We all know how Satan tricked Eve in the Garden of Eden. She made her own choice. God could’ve stopped her, but he didn’t. He knew exactly what was going to happen, but still let her figure it out on her own. What does all this mean? Well, it means a few things and I’m sure I don’t know all of them.

The Lord loves us; we are his children. God let’s us make our own choices, whether something good or bad will happen. He will tell us what is right but he won’t force us to do it. He gives us freedom. He wants us to follow him and to listen to him. We are allowed to make our own decisions. Will it end well? I don’t know. We all probably know someone who tends to plan out their life, whether it’s yourself or someone else; whether they claim to be a follower of Christ or not.

Are they happy? Are you happy? I personally don’t want the weight of my entire lifeon my shoulders. This is a lot of unnecessary pressure and effort. You will never have full control over anything. A lot of people strive for it, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s an illusion. It tricks us into believing we are capable of doing God’s job, but we aren’t and never will be. I’m not saying there won’t be pivots and bumps in the road if you take God’s path. But wouldn’t you rather have someone there to help you when you trip or fall?

Following the Lord with all your heart can be difficult. Is it worth it? Definitely. No one will ever love you like Jesus does. Not because they refuse but because we just can’t. His love is pure and perfect in every way possible. If you surrender your life to him, you won’t have to worry about money or food, or anything because you rely on the Lord and he will neverabandon you.

No matter where you are in your life right now, or what you may have done, it’s never too late to turn around and sink into his loving embrace. He’s waiting for you with arms wide open, wanting you to run to him so he can guide you along the path. May we all take your hand Lord. May we all surrender.

“‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.'” -Matthew 6: 25-34
