That word up there means different things to different people. In Christianity, it’s the Holy day, when in the Old Testament, God’s people were to honor him and the rest he took on the seventh day of creation. The Sabbath was a day to worship the Lord and make him the focus. Opinions about this subject vary among people, and a big question some people may have is, “Do we still have to participate in it?”
Here are some of my thoughts: The Sabbath is the Lord’s day, right? But what if we make everyday his? For example, some people, on Thanksgiving, are thankful for their many things, but when it’s a week later, are they still thankful? I get the importance of the Sabbath. It seems like people didn’t always make time to worship God unless it was for some special day or festival. I could be wrong. I am no Theologian.
The Sabbath was set in place so people would worship the Lord, and acknowledge the day of rest he took while creating the world. How about we have daily rest? How about, like I said above, we make everyday the Lord’s day? Then we’re celebrating him and remembering him everyday. We don’t have to wait till Christmas to think about him or celebrate him. In fact, we shouldn’t wait. We need him every moment of our lives, and he is with us all the time.
May we learn to love and worship God every day of the week, also while allowing ourselves daily rest.
