Missing Piece

Posted on February 10, 2024 by alexis

Think about a puzzle you’ve been working on all week, and it has finally come down to the final pieces. One goes there…that one goes here, but, oh no! A missing piece, right in the middle of the almost perfect puzzle. Missing pieces can be common in our lives. An empty feeling, a feeling of loneliness, and many more things. Most people search and search for the one thing or person that will fill up those holes. But there’s really only one piece that will fit: Jesus.

Now, hear me out. Sometimes, even growing up in a Christian household, you don’t really have a personal relationship with God. You may read the Bible, say prayers, read devotions, go to church. But you don’t feel as close to Him as you want. It seems no matter how hard you try, nothing clicks. First of all everyone’s relationship with Jesus is going to be different. People all have their own ways of worship and praise.

But then something happens, whether it’s a move, your best friend betrays you, you don’t really have any friends in the first place, someone you love dies or get’s ill, the list of bad things goes on and on. People sometimes have a hard time understanding other people and their problems. You may not have anyone to talk to, or maybe you just don’t want to talk about it.

This is where Jesus makes His grand entrance. He knows everything about you, even the things you wouldn’t tell your closest friend. He sees all, including the things happening to you. When you’re sad He’s sad. He feels what you feel, sees what you see. Sometimes it may seem too good to be true: A Savior who loves you no matter what, actually understands you, and never leaves you. Well, He is good and He is real. He’s willing to help and all it takes is a few minutes of silence with Him, whether you’re just talking with Him or reading the Bible.

One of the best things is that you don’t necessarily need to pray or talk out loud in order for Him to hear you. He knows all your thoughts, even before you have them. You can talk to Him whenever, whether you’re at school, visiting someone, or even in the middle of the night when no one else is around. He’s always there, like the missing puzzle piece, waiting to be found. Everyone finds Him at different times and in different ways. So don’t compare your relationship with Jesus to anyone else’s. We all grow at our own pace; don’t be discouraged if someone is further along than you. Give yourself some grace and don’t give up on Him, for He will never give up on you.
